Vampire Academy #2 - Frostbite

Made time to read the 2nd book of the Vampire Academy series titled Frostbite.

The second book is time around involves with Rose and her feelings towards Dimitri as it's already bad enough since she is her mentor and student-teacher relationship is not allowed in the academy. Both Rose and Dimitri took off for Rose's Qualifier Exam to meet legendart guardian Arthur Schoenberg only to realized that that guardian is brutally attack and murdered by a group of Strigoi with the help of humans. Due to the attack has cause Rose to be very traumatized.

More problems seems to arrive when Rose unexpectedly enters Lissa's head and witness Lissa and her new boyfriend Moroi royalty Christian Ozera, and it really creeps her out. Lissa meeting her estranged mother, Janine Hathaway one of the famous Guardians who has a rough relationship with, what's worse is during a training with her mother, Rose accidentally received a black eye from her mother.

And then came a woman named Tasha Ozera, Christian's aunt who she saved Christian from her parents who became a Strigoi and almost forcing Christian to become one. Rose noticed Tasha's and Dimitri's intimacy causing her to get jealous, and decided to brush off her feelings towards Dimitri and tries to date other guys, other guys like her age and she did, a dhampir name Mason who has an obvious crush on Rose, but Rose doesn't returns her feelings back to him, obviously because of Dimitri.

Because of the recent Strigoi attack the school has organized a school snow trip for all students to keep them save from the Strigoi attack, during the snow trip, Rose meets another member of the Royal Family Adrian Ivashkov, a flirty, playful, playboy who smokes and drinks a lot Moroi vampire who has already become of interested of Rose, and of course, Rose seems to avoid him, he also becomes closer to Lissa only to realize that Adrian is also a spirit user just like her. 

And when another Strigoi attack happens in the snow trip again, sparks a lot of concern for the Moroi due to their safety and when Tasha decided to voice up saying that Moroi should use their magic ability to fight against the Strigoi causing a huge controversy topic as Moroi are not supposed to use their powers to fight as, fighting against the Strigoi is the Guardians job.

The Strigoi attack has lead to Rose's friends Mason, Mia and Eddie to hunt for the Strigoi's location for themselves the reason they did that because Mia's mother was one of the murdered victim of the Strigoi attack in the hotel. When Rose along with Christian set off to find and bring them back they were caught by the Strigoi and kept them captive torturing them as well. When Rose sets up an escape plan, it works but Mason's life isn't. Enraged Rose kills the 2 main Strigoi making her first Strigoi kill before even graduating.

Rose is still shaken up over the whole incident and Mason's death blaming herself because she's upsets Mason pushing him away because of her feelings towards Dimitri. Dimitri comforts her and then kisses her telling her that he loves her and only her. 

What took my attention in the whole 2nd book is Adrian Ivashkov and only Adrian Ivashkov. I found myself crushing over him because of his personality. I LOVE HIS PERSONALITY! He's funny, playful, flirty, sarcastic sometimes, laid-back and also quite charming like he mentioned himself. Also the fact that he can enter people's dream is one awesome spirit ability. And he doesn't like his spirit powers which is why he drinks and smokes a lot to numb to side effects to the power. And also the fact he has his flirty mode on towards Rose as well.
