Earthquake from Sumantra. 8.9 magnitude.

Today something happen that would chance my life forever! I felt an earthquake tremor just now this afternoon and I’m so freaked out about it! I’m living at Relau area and I can feel the tremor and this is the first time feeling an earthquake shake.

I saw my house, the desktop monitor and the fan was shaking violently, when I’m standing I can feel myself swaying, the floor was also shaking and since I’m staying at the highest floor which is the 4th floor of my condo I can feel it. And when I sat on the chair I can feel myself falling off the chair. It was swaying.

It stopped after 4-5 minutes and then I checked Facebook and everyone is talking about the earthquake they felt, mostly everyone felt it. And it kinda freaked me out completely since this is my first time feeling it, and during the 2004 earthquake I felt nothing, and the earthquake during the 2004 was stronger than this one.

I checked for more updates regarding on the earthquake I felt and found out that Sumatra, Indonesia has an earthquake encountered. And then, I braced myself for another second wave, and aftershock. True enough, it happen again.

Few hours later, I felt another earthquake   

I felt another shake from the aftershock, again I can feel it, but this time the earthquake was shorther and last for a few minutes.

I’m still shaken up about the earthquake though. Now the only thing that we worry is about the tsunami that might hit Penang. I always wanted to know how an earthquake felt like, but after today I felt scared already, since not many people feel earthquake before, except for the 2004 incident. 

I pray that Indonesia stay safe and Penang as well.
